Our History
A Friendly Church with a Vital Message
Prayerfully Seeking a Permanent Pastor
Victory Baptist Church is currently seeking the man God would have to lead our church as permanent pastor. We invite visitors and prospective families to learn more about our ministry, beliefs, and church family.
Learn MoreOur Beginning
Victory Baptist Church was founded by Pastor Rader M. Ogden under the leadership of God to be an independent Baptist church.
The church began on January 31, 1982 at 310 Kalorama Street in Staunton, Virginia. The mission of the church was, and is, to win people to Jesus Christ, place missionaries around the world in obedience to the Great Commission, and edify the Body of Christ.
Growing Through the Years
The first service of Victory Baptist Church was attended by fourteen people, with the first offering being two hundred dollars. From this group came the founding members of the church.
By November 1984, the church had outgrown its Kalorama Street location and moved to the old Four-Square Gospel Church building on West Beverly Street.
On February 27, 1986, the church purchased three acres of land near Jollivue, Virginia from Mr. George Dillion.
In November 1988, Victory Baptist Church held its first service in the new building. On Easter Sunday of 1990, the first service was held in the freshly finished auditorium.
Faithful Leadership
After faithfully serving Victory Baptist Church for more than four decades, Pastor Rader M. Ogden and his wife, Mrs. Robin Ogden, retired from the ministry following the last Sunday service in April 2026.
Their forty-four years of faithful service, leadership, and dedication to the work of the Lord have left a lasting impact on the church, the community, and countless lives around the world through missions and ministry.
A Church Family
Through each chapter of its history, Victory Baptist Church has continued forward with a desire to preach Christ, encourage families, and support missions around the world.
Looking Ahead
At the present time, Victory Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking the Lord’s direction for a permanent pastor.
In the interim, services are being led by Interim Pastor Dr. Lonnie Moore and his wife, Gail Moore, of Lonnie Moore Ministries. The church continues forward with a desire to honor Christ, preach the Word of God, and remain faithful to the mission upon which Victory Baptist Church was founded.
