Our History
A Friendly Church with a Vital Message
Welcome, Pastor Matthew Langdon
Victory Baptist Church is thankful to welcome Pastor Matthew Langdon as our new pastor. After a season of prayer and seeking the Lord’s direction, the church voted to call Pastor Langdon to lead Victory Baptist Church into its next chapter of ministry.
Meet Our PastorOur Beginning
Victory Baptist Church was founded by Pastor Rader M. Ogden under the leadership of God to be an independent Baptist church.
The church began on January 31, 1982 at 310 Kalorama Street in Staunton, Virginia. The mission of the church was, and is, to win people to Jesus Christ, place missionaries around the world in obedience to the Great Commission, and edify the Body of Christ.
Growing Through the Years
The first service of Victory Baptist Church was attended by fourteen people, with the first offering being two hundred dollars. From this group came the founding members of the church.
By November 1984, the church had outgrown its Kalorama Street location and moved to the old Four-Square Gospel Church building on West Beverly Street.
On February 27, 1986, the church purchased three acres of land near Jollivue, Virginia from Mr. George Dillion.
In November 1988, Victory Baptist Church held its first service in the new building. On Easter Sunday of 1990, the first service was held in the freshly finished auditorium.
Faithful Leadership
After faithfully serving Victory Baptist Church for more than four decades, Pastor Rader M. Ogden and his wife, Mrs. Robin Ogden, retired from the ministry following the last Sunday service in April 2026.
Their forty-four years of faithful service, leadership, and dedication to the work of the Lord have left a lasting impact on the church, the community, and countless lives around the world through missions and ministry.
A Church Family
Through each chapter of its history, Victory Baptist Church has continued forward with a desire to preach Christ, encourage families, and support missions around the world.
A New Chapter
Following the retirement of Pastor Rader M. Ogden in April 2026, Victory Baptist Church entered a season of prayerfully seeking the Lord’s direction for its next pastor. During this time, Dr. Lonnie Moore faithfully served the church as interim pastor.
In September 2026, the church voted to call Pastor Matthew Langdon as its next pastor. We are thankful for the Lord’s leading and look forward to this new chapter of ministry as we continue to preach Christ, reach families, support missions, and remain faithful to the purpose upon which Victory Baptist Church was founded.
Meet Pastor Matthew Langdon
Pastor Matthew Langdon was saved at the age of 15 at Faith Baptist Church and has spent many years faithfully serving in local church ministry. Shortly after marrying his wife, Dominique, in 2017, he began serving as Youth Pastor at Faith Baptist Church, where he served for seven years before becoming Administrative Pastor. He has also taught at Faith Baptist Academy since 2020.
Matthew and Dominique met at Hoosier Hills Baptist Camp in 2016. Dominique is a graduate of Heartland Baptist Bible College. They have four children: Isaiah, Andrew, Faith, and Elisha.
The Langdon family comes to Victory Baptist Church with a heart for the Lord, the local church, and reaching others with the Gospel. We are thankful for God’s direction in bringing their family to Victory and look forward to serving the Lord together in the years ahead.
